** General Description Of Operation **

A destoner air separation table, also known as a gravity separator or air table, works on the principle of density separation to separate granulated copper wire from insulation. Here's a brief explanation of how it functions:

1. Material input: The mixture of granulated copper wire and insulation is fed onto the table's deck.

2. Vibration: The table vibrates, causing the material to spread out evenly across its surface.

3. Air flow: Pressurized air is blown upwards through tiny perforations in the table's deck.

4. Stratification: The air flow causes the materials to "fluidize" and separate based on their density. Heavier copper particles sink to the bottom, while lighter insulation particles rise to the top.

5. Inclined surface: The table is slightly inclined, usually in two directions (lengthwise and sidewise).

6. Material movement: As the table vibrates, the denser copper particles move uphill due to their contact with the deck surface. The lighter insulation particles float on the air cushion and move downhill.

7. Collection: Different zones at the edges of the table collect the separated materials. The copper is typically collected at the higher end, while the insulation is collected at the lower end.

This process allows for efficient separation of the copper from the insulation based on their significant density difference, resulting in a high-purity copper product and separate insulation waste.
